Glory Magazine hosted the first ever cover photo contest for members of the Buckhannon Photo Club. The theme of the photo was to reflect the beauty of West Virginia and what they felt contributed to the state motto of “Almost Heaven, West Virginia.” Entrants did not disappoint and a variety of gorgeous photos were submitted.
The cover photo winner, Gary McCoy, with his beautiful photo of a double rainbow over the fields and mountains in Upshur County called “Rainbow over Edray Barn,” won our hearts and truly reflected the “Almost Heaven” qualities of our state.
Gary snapped the winning photo during the last stop on one of the club’s many workshops. It was June 2017, on an early Sunday when a storm was rolling in and suddenly the clouds opened up and the double rainbow appeared.
“I give credit to God for the photo,” Gary said. “I was just there, He created it. I just had a camera in my hands and all I had to do was click.”
Gary and his wife live in Buckhannon and he will be retiring from Sharpe Hospital in Weston in November 2018.
Please enjoy some of the other mentionable submissions on page 5 of the Oct-Nov 2018 issue HERE. Our thanks to the Buckhannon Photo Club and all its members who participated.
