Have you ever heard of the Paschal lamb? In the Jewish religion, the Paschal lamb, also called the Passover lamb, is ritually sacrificed in observance of Jewish law on the evening of the Passover. The Jews were instructed by God to sacrifice an unblemished lamb and place its blood on the doorposts so the striking of the Lord would “passover” them and deliver them out from under Pharaoh’s rule. (See Exodus 12 below)
The lamb was “roasted with fire” and eaten with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. If any remained in the morning, it would be consumed with fire. The blood placed on the doorposts, the gates of the houses they were in, was a signal to the Lord to exempt them from His judgment. His judgment was upon Egypt’s firstborn, both man and beast, and against all Egypt’s false gods and magistrates. The Lord, seeing the blood, would not let the destroyer come into their houses to kill them. The Israelites are commanded in Exodus 12:24 to observe the words of the Lord as a boundary forever. They were to tell their children what it meant.
“And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord’s passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. And the children of Israel went away, and did as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.”

As Christians, we believe that Jesus Christ is, was, and will forever be The Paschal Lamb, slain before the foundations of the world. He was slain for our transgressions, died, and rose again on the Third Day. John the Baptist called Jesus the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” and the Apostle John describes in the book of Revelation that amid the throne of four beasts and the elders, “stood a Lamb as it had been slain”(Rev. 5:6).
The Lamb of God
Easter is when Christians celebrate the fulfillment of the prophecies given in the Old Testament and the commemoration of the finished works of Jesus Christ. Easter Sunday is considered the most sacred of any Sunday during the year.
We are the remnant of the Paschal Lamb. We will be consumed by the fire of Glory through the completed works of the Father through His Son. Our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29), and those who are washed in the Blood of Jesus shall be utterly consumed and raised to life in Him, while those who dwell in the land of Egypt will be destroyed by the Holy Fire of God’s judgment.
We pray continually for all those who do not know the works of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We pray they find their way to His presence, are washed in the blood of the Paschal Lamb, and are redeemed from the lake of fire.
