All Consuming Fire

Read Time:3 Minute

God is an all-consuming fire.

Hebrews 12:29 KJV

The Church, those called out, have grown weary. They have seen the rise of a culture of death overflow in every aspect of society, and it is getting harder and harder to bear. Is there anything left that can be done and is there any hope? I will shout out a resounding yes!

Where sin abounds, Grace much more abounds.

Romans 5:20 KJV

What happens when your campfire or fireplace wood is wet? You have to stack it like a teepee or on the side, wait for it to dry, or get more wood. I believe we are stacking the wood carefully around the source and waiting for it to dry off. God is the source of the fire and all those who have been praying for this generation to overcome drugs, praying for a family member to come to Christ, praying for life to be valued, and praying for Godly values to return, are stacking wood every time they pray. When someone praises through the pain or tribulation that wood stack is growing higher and higher.

Another thing about the fire is that if you don’t feed it, it will die. Embers can always start a blaze as long as there is new wood, but if there is none added, it will burn out.  It will return to ash. Burning the same wood, over and over again until it is charred, hard, cold, and only useful to make a mess, will never allow the flame to rise again. No fire can last in that cycle.

For too long, we as the Body, have been trying to burn the same wood.  All we are getting is a pile of charcoal and ash. You would never pull down the rafters of the church or pull up the wood in the floors of your house to keep the flame burning in the fireplace, would you? Not unless it was the very last thing you had to burn. You would go outside the four walls to find more wood. If you don’t, you will inevitably tear down the house.

Did you know we must keep our flames of hope burning? It’s not our mother, our father, a husband, a wife, or our pastor’s responsibility; it is ours. So how do we get some new material? Right now, “Ain’t No Grave” by Bethel Music brings a fire up inside me every time I hear it. However, it can be something as simple as quietly listening to the birds or watching a baby yawn that brings an ember to light.

In the end, there are three things that we are tasked to do. One, find what makes you spark. Nine times out of ten I would say music is the best accelerant because we were made to worship. Find what works for you! Two, make sure that God is the source of the fire. Three, receive the Holy Ghost wind that can take that stacked wood and make it ablaze!

We can all use a little pick-me-up with the darkness around. Getting out of our four walls of doing the same thing over and over, finding new ways to lift our spirits with the Hope of the Lord, and then letting the Holy Spirit guide us into what He would have us do, is the best way to start a blaze of revival. Don’t sit this one out…because it’s going to be a barn-burner!

Blessings and honor,
